Find your quiet place

“Inside myself is a place where I live all alone and that is where I renew my springs that never dry up.”
Pearl S. Buck
While it is wonderful to have people in our lives—friends and loved ones that we can spend time with—as creative people, we also need “alone time” to allow our thoughts a place to come to fruition.

We need a physical place we can decorate with items and totems that inspire us, fill with the kind of music that stirs our souls and fragrances that stir our sense, where we can close our eyes and just think in solitude. And an emotional place, where guilt and anger and fear and frustration don’t have access, where our focus is on what matters right now which is of course our writing.

If you are feeling stuck and trapped, unable to move forward in your creative work, ask yourself if it has something to do with where you are: literally or figuratively. Are you confined by emotions or constricted by clutter? What is in your way?

Then use Renew Your Nest Day to have a good clear-out and clean-out! Demand your right to a creative space from whoever is keeping you from it—even if that that “someone” is you!
